MVA REQUIRED BASIC DRIVER EDUCATION PROGRAM SUMMARY
• 30 hours of in-class sessions as required by the MVA. Parents are encouraged to attend the first of class which usually counts as the orientation. Classroom session are very interactive and student participation is highly encouraged. Behind-The-Wheels (in-car) sessions are only scheduled after completion of the classroom sesssion and passing the final exam.
• 6 hours of in-car lessons usually scheduled at 2 hours per session. These in-car sessions are done on a one-one-one basis with a certified instructor. Our instructors have the most up to date knowledge on the skills test needed to obtain a Provisional Drivers’ License at the MVA (Parallel Parking and Two Point Turn around). In conformance with the driving triangle which involve the student, driving school, and parents or mentors our instructors provide daily progress report to mentors and parents. These progress reports when shared with mentors will be valuable in the development of the new driver. Mentors are also encouraged to ask about student's progress report as these may assist is getting the new driver the additional help needed.
Private or Mentoring lessons
Private lessons/ Mentoring lessons are available at $40.00 per hour. A packaged discount may be available for you if greater than 10 hours are required. Please call for details.
MVA Provisional license Skills testing: Please schedule an appointment for the skills test with the MVA and give us a call. We would offer you a 30 minutes pre-testing coaching before the actual drivers license test at the MVA for a fee of $120.00. The pre-testing coaching period allows you to get familiar with the vehicle and also include important hints that could increase chances of passing the MVA test (does not include setting up of cones). Although our instructors do a great job preparing students we can not guarantee that a student will pass the test.
DRIVER IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (DIP): The DIP classes run for 4 hours. Please have an ID and any document you may have received from the MVA or COURT. The DIP sessions are very interactive, interesting and addresses pressing questions from participants. R&S Express will promptly notify the MVA of participant's completion Electronically.
